Title
Growth of Multifunctional Borate Crystals and Related Materials
Subject
Materials
Description
Borate crystals are attractive for different technological applications due to their favorable physical and chemical properties such as high stability and transparency, both high thermal and non-linear optical coefficients, making them an ideal active medium for highly efficient solid-state lasers. In this Special Issue, various aspects of multifunctional borate crystals are discussed, including ortho- and oxyorthoborates and compounds with condensed anions, as well as their nonlinear optical and laser properties and piezoelectric characteristics. Therefore, the complex investigation of phase relationships in multi-component borate melts, the study of the growth conditions of new high-temperature borate crystals, and the development of “crystallization conditions, composition, structure and properties” This concept will provide a scientific basis for the growth of device technology and high-performance electronic and optical components with a wide range of industrial, medical and many other applications. Meanwhile, this relationship can help estimate the affinity of synthetic borate materials with their natural prototypes and structural analogues.
