The cardiovascular system includes the heart located centrally in the chest and the body's blood vessels which carry blood. The cardiovascular (or circulatory) system supplies oxygen from inspired air, via the lungs to the surrounding tissues of the body. It is also responsible for eliminating the waste product, carbon dioxide through the air exhaled from the lungs. The cardiovascular system also transports nutrients such as electrolytes, amino acids, enzymes, hormones which are an integral part of cellular respiration, metabolism and immunity.
