Title

Limb Amputation

Subject

Surgery

Description

Patients often have to have limbs amputated to save them from advanced malignant neoplasms and severe extremity infections, or due to failure to repair severe extremity trauma. However, efforts should be made to preserve the limb if possible, and minimize loss of function if amputation is necessary. We provide recent developments in limb amputation for this purpose. This book provides expert commentary on the following issues: excision to prevent large-scale amputations in peripheral arterial disease and diabetes, optimal wound care in severe trauma, prosthesis problems due to excessive stump growth in amputations in children. We hope this book will help physicians treating limb disease and trauma, and all amputee patients.
